Today I Learned: Slavery
In tonight's #Nightcap, I will attempt to disseminate some interesting tidbits that I found interesting while learning about slavery. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
Critical Race Theory (CRT) is causing a stir by becoming a hot political button issue that conservatives and liberals exploit to remain in power. As I have said before, CRT is an academic study reserved for collegiate-level research. Since I am not a professor, I will not try to demonstrate how little I know and understand the subject by teaching it here. I surmise that any study of CRT in America contains some reference to the institution of slavery. After receiving a message in my inbox from a friend, I started down the rabbit hole. The message was a captured tweet, and there was no context associated with the message:

I wasn't sure how to interpret this message, but the challenge posed by the lede made me realize how little I knew about the history of slavery on a global scale. I spent the better part of today reading articles, PDFs, and speeches by academics, pundits and students on the topic of slavery.
